After a #DressingDown #5050Parliament did a little #StripTees at Women & Equalities Select Committee Inquiry because Parliament did not like our t-shirt, so we removed it, staring on Parliamentary TV, see clip below.
But seriously, please everyone write to the inquiry explaining why we need more women at Westminster.
We need better gender balance and more women in Parliament, not only to achieve better representation but also to ensure that our Parliament is drawing upon the widest possible pool of talent and experience, including the 32 million UK women. As Prof Ngaire Woods from Oxford University has said “We know that when women are in parliament…it builds more resilient, responsive, better informed institutions.” Of our 650 MPs only 192 are women.
We want the best of both, men and women, running the country together in more equal numbers. Diversity leads to better decision making and representation shapes policy. Having more women at Westmister would ensure more informed policy-making on all issues and particularly those concerning reproductive rights, VAWG, domestic violence, equal pay, pensions, sexism, discrimination, inclusion, maternity care, family life, caring and parenting.
